Structure of Patient Visit:

The primary focus of the initial visit is to get a comprehensive view of the patient’s health history and current status.  This will involve having the patient fill out a series of questionnaires designed by Dr. Ritz to direct the history, including the issues the patient would like addressed.  Ideally these questionnaires will be completed and sent in prior to the initial visit so the patient’s case can be thoroughly reviewed.

When the patient arrives for the scheduled visit, they will sit down with Dr. Ritz to go over their history.  When this is completed they will move into an exam room to assess vital signs and for the physical exam.  Upon completion of the physical exam, they will again join Dr. Ritz in her office to go over their assessment and recommendations.  Patients should expect a 90 minute initial visit on average.  Follow-up visits will be more brief and will focus on both new and ongoing issues based on the patient’s needs. All patients will be given a superbill based on their diagnoses prior to departure which can be submitted to their insurance companies.

Laboratory Testing:

Dr. Ritz may recommend diagnostic tests that may or may not be covered by insurance. Patients will have samples obtained through an outside laboratory.  All testing must be paid for at the time of kit distribution, and patients are responsible for submitting claims to their insurance companies.  As stated above, BCIM will provide assistance with this process.
